What SNAP Accessories Can Do
Magnetic, Tool-Free, Stackable Lenses
Soraa SNAP accessories make up a magnetic-attachment platform - the Soraa SNAP System - that reshapes beams, shifts color temperature, and adds effects to SNAP-compatible Soraa lamps without changing the lamp itself. Each accessory self-centers with magnets and is stackable, so you can run a beam spreader and a CCT shifter together. There are no tools, no fasteners, and no rewiring, which makes it easy to fine-tune a fixture after it is installed or re-aim a display when the merchandise changes. Each accessory does one job well, and you combine them to get the exact beam and color you need:
Accessory |
What it does |
Beam spreaders |
Widen a 10-degree spot to 17, 25, 36, or 60 degrees for instant flexibility |
Linear lenses |
Create elongated patterns (10x25, 10x36) for shelves, signage, and architectural features |
Flat-top lenses |
Square patterns (25x25, 36x36) to frame paintings, furniture, and display tables |
CCT shifters |
Change color temperature (for example, 3000K to 2200K) while keeping the same lamp |
Louvers |
Cut high-angle glare in downlight applications |
Aimable accessories |
Bend the beam up to 20 degrees off-axis without moving the fixture |
Color filters and clears |
Pair with Rosco or Lee gels for theatrical, retail, or event effects |
Predictable, Repeatable Beam Control
The point of one-job-per-accessory is repeatability. A beam spreader labeled for a given angle produces the same widening on every lamp it fits, so a lighting plan can call out exact beam and pattern changes and get them consistently across a whole install. That predictability is what lets a specifier call out SNAP on paper and trust the room will match the drawing, rather than aiming and guessing on a ladder.
SNAP Compatibility - Which Lamps Work
Narrow-Spot Lamps Only
SNAP works only with narrow-spot lamps; flood and wide-flood models are not compatible, because the accessory needs a tight source beam to reshape. Size the accessory to the lamp first, then choose the type:
SNAP size |
Fits |
Small SNAP (2 in) |
MR16 (GU10, GU5.3) and PAR20 narrow-spot (10 degree) |
Large SNAP (4 in) |
PAR30, PAR38, and AR111 narrow-spot (9-10 degree) |
Small SNAP vs. Large SNAP
Small SNAP fits Soraa MR16 GU10, Soraa MR16 GU5.3, and PAR20 spots; large SNAP fits Soraa PAR lamps (PAR30, PAR38) and Soraa AR111. Every SNAP-ready lamp is a narrow-spot Soraa VIVID or Brilliant HL model, so browse the full Soraa range to match one. The same platform doubles as an MR16 accessory, a PAR accessory, or an AR111 accessory, sorted only by size.
Match the Accessory to the Lamp
Sizing is the only thing to get right up front. A small SNAP will not seat on a PAR30 face, and a large SNAP overhangs an MR16, so ordering the size that matches the lamp body is what makes the magnetic ring self-center cleanly. When in doubt, match by the lamp you already have on the shelf, or send the model number and we will confirm the size before anything ships.
How SNAP Mounts and Stacks
Fitting a SNAP accessory takes seconds. The magnetic ring self-centers on the lamp face, so it seats square without tools or clips and holds through normal handling and re-aiming. When you need more than one effect, accessories stack in a set order: put the CCT shifter closest to the lamp, then add the beam-shaping lens on top. Match the accessory size to the lamp - a 2-inch small SNAP for MR16 and PAR20, a 4-inch large SNAP for PAR30, PAR38, and AR111 - and keep a few spare lenses on hand so a display can change without ordering a new lamp. Because nothing is fastened, an accessory comes off just as fast when the look needs to change back.
When to Reach for SNAP
Retail, Gallery, and Hospitality Uses
SNAP earns its keep on projects that change or need precise control. Retailers reshape beams as displays move, without ordering different lamps. Galleries frame art with flat-top lenses and cut spill with louvers. Restaurants and hotels shift color warmer in the evening with a CCT shifter while keeping the same lamp in the fixture. Stocking a few narrow-spot lamps plus a kit of SNAP lenses often replaces a shelf of fixed-beam bulbs, which cuts what you buy and store. When a beam or color needs to change later, the accessory changes and the lamp stays put - which is why specifiers who expect a space to evolve tend to standardize on narrow-spot lamps and shape them with SNAP.
Fewer Lamps, More Looks in Stock
There is also a stocking argument that adds up over a year. A crew that carries narrow-spot lamps plus a small kit of SNAP lenses can answer most on-site requests - wider here, warmer there, framed on that painting - without a second trip or a special order. Compared with holding separate flood, wide-flood, and color-shifted lamps for every fixture, the SNAP approach shrinks the parts list and the shelf space while covering more looks. For facilities teams and installers who service the same spaces repeatedly, that is often the deciding reason to standardize on the system.
Small SNAP and Large SNAP
The platform comes in two sizes, sorted only by the lamp face they self-center on.
Small SNAP (2 in) - fits MR16 (GU10, GU5.3) and PAR20 narrow-spot lamps for accent and display work.
Large SNAP (4 in) - fits PAR30, PAR38, and AR111 narrow-spot lamps for larger fixtures and longer throws.
